My client in the steel and tube industry is looking for a Hardware Buyer (industrial hardware) to join their team in Wadeville.
Ideal start date: as soon as possible
Applicants MUST have industrial hardware buying experience, as well as contactable references.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Understand and implement the group purchasing strategy in respect of all Hardware Products
Produce Product Order Templates based within prescribed time-frames
Issue, Receive and consolidate Order Templates within pre-defined time periods
Provide estimated landed costs of shipment and ETA's of orders to be placed
Issue Order inquiries to Suppliers and compare pricing
Obtain approval to place orders and confirm orders with suppliers
Confirm order placement with Stock Controllers / Buyers in order for SYSPRO to be updated
Monitor progress of orders and report back to Stock Controllers / Buyers on a regular basis
Liaise with Suppliers, Shipping and Clearing Agents to expedite orders in the shortest possible time
Liaise with Stock Controllers / Buyers regarding the maintenance of minimum & maximum stock levels
Monitor daily group purchase reports and identify and implement better buying opportunities
Maintain Product Masters on SYSPRO for related and specific products
Ensure all buying schedules are completed in good time, approved by management and distributed in good manner and format to customers/suppliers
Ensure stock levels of all items in your job function is kept at group approved levels using approved means, Template and Tempo
Notify management of market related changes including price changes and any changes that can influence the company
Negotiate in good manner with external parties on behalf of the company as and when required by management
Ensure all purchase orders are planned and issued in detail, stipulating group requirements i.e.: mass of bundles, size of packs and boxes, marking of material and all governmental requirements are followed where necessary
Ensure continuous maintenance off stock codes on electronic reporting system
Ensure correct tracking of movements off all related and relevant products, including imports, goods at processing facilities and internal bulk movements.
REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible for the buying of industrial hardware range of products
Minimum 5-10 years' experience required within a Hardware Buyer job function
Required to meet with Suppliers and negotiate pricing etc.
Support all branches in buying industrial hardware
Candidate must have solid computer skills - Advanced MS Excel skills and must be able to use "V-lookup"
Strong negotiation and people skills
Syspro experience will be an advantage
Must have a strong personality to handle and lead people
Must be able to work in a pressurized and fast paced environment
Must be able to work retail hours
Formal qualification in Purchasing / Buying will be an advantage
Experience in terms of dealing with a multi-branch network across the country
Experience in a large organisation in terms of operations and volumes
