Reporting to the Group Manufacturing Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the maintenance of assets at sites in the Group to ensure adequate levels of reliability at acceptable cost to meet manufacturing output and quality requirements, while ensuring compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Duties & Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this position include:Asset management which includes ensuring availability/uptime of machinery and tooling, ratio of planned vs unplanned maintenance, evaluation of failure modes and improvements, and ensuring that the content and practical execution of preventative maintenance works orders drives availability / uptime to target
Drive ongoing improvement to the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) at a Group-wide level
Building and facilities maintenance
Management, training and development of artisans and maintenance staff
Maintain budgeted expenditure through tight control and continuous assessment of man hours worked and balance cost vs benefit of maintenance work, including overtime
Provide a safe working environment at sites under your control, by ensuring compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental requirements / standards as per ISO 14001 & Group SOP's
Manage equipment and process improvement projects within the manufacturing environment to support production output, quality or risk reduction
Manage the company’s interaction with its insurers to ensure that reasonable insurance requirements in terms of site infrastructure is agreed on, and implemented as required
Continuously improve systems and processes
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements:Matric plus a recognized BSc / BTech Engineering qualification
Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) for Factories is advantageous
5 years post qualification experience in a maintenance management role within a Production / Manufacturing environment
Computer literacy in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) and JDE/E1
Sound understanding of ISO/TS 16949 Quality Standards and APQP Quality Management techniques
In depth knowledge of:
OHS Act & Regulations
Maintenance Tactics
Equipment failure Root Cause Analysis
Working knowledge of Project Management
