A professional sports and athletes management business with various commercial and union related divisions is looking to permanently employ a Legal and Commercial Manager in their Cape Town based office. Qualifications: Law Degree and Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court Required: Legal and Commercial experience of at least 5 years of which 3 years must be in a similar role Excellent negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience in the sports industry is an advantage Must be able and willing to travel Purpose of the position: To develop and maintain an effective legal, compliance, governance, policy management, company secretarial and human resource function within the organisation and to ensure the prudent management of legal risk across the organisation. Assist in the development of various commercial programs in the organisation or in conjunction with partners. KEY DUTIES Legal Ensure development and drafting of high- quality legal documents Peruse and review all legal documents Provide legal advice and guidance Manage ad hoc internal legal matters and liaise with external legal counsel Database development on disciplinary hearings Co-ordination and management of instructions to outside legal practitioners, including legal fee management Manage all intellectual property matters Develop legal procedure Contribute / serve as member of Manco of organisation Compliance and Governance Develop, maintain and manage a contract library prompt all with renewal and review notifications Develop compliance schedule for all entities Attend to all compliance related matters within the group of companies BEE Compliance Manage and maintain governance function Manage Company secretarial function- Comprehensive minute register of all relevant meetings across the group of companies Undertaking legal due diligence exercises and focus on corporate governance Management of resolutions and necessary register Maintain updated risk register for organisation Policy Development Review, amend and develop new internal policies staff information session annually; Licensing Manage licensing program, entire process incl. legal - application documents and legal agreements to be made available on our website HR Manage HR Function Appraisals HR Files Induction sessions Benefit Partners Review and maintain with current partners Focus and source new benefit partners as per organisations direction Remuneration: R500k R750k per annum depending on experience plus bonus scheme participation.
