A Multinational Agricultural Manufacturing and Distribution Company requires the above to be responsible for new product development, overseeing registration of products for local and international markets, chemical formulation, method development as well as having to trouble shoot at customer sites within the fertiliser and related markets.
Minimum requirements for the role:
A tertiary qualification in Chemistry (BSc Hons or Masters) or Chemical Engineering is essential.
Previous experience having worked as a Senior Development/Formulation Chemist or Soil Scientist within the Agricultural Industry is essential.
Must have sound knowledge and understanding of Magnesium and Zinc Sulphates.
Previous trial management experience is advantageous.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Computer literacy is essential with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
Must be able to develop and implement in a production environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Research and develop formulations and strategies to manufacture stable agricultural formulations such as Suspension Concentrates (SC), Emulsifiable Concentrates (EC), Soluble Liquids (SL) and Seed Coatings (FS).
Assist with and oversee all registration of products, locally and internationally.
Travel internationally and nationally to service Dealerships and Agents who represent the Company.
Visit Farmers and implement field trials at Farmers and manufacturing facilities focusing on challenges experienced by the Farmer’s providing advice as to improve or resolve their issues.
Perform physical and chemical analysis using numerous different types of laboratory equipment.
Perform formulation stability testing according to the Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council (CIPAC) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) legal requirements.
Conduct formulation verifications and solve upscale difficulties using pilot-plant and problem-solving techniques.
Liaise with international Suppliers for assistance and advise on developmental work and required raw materials for production.
Write and present technical reports to Senior Management.
Manage and drive the pilot-plant.
