This position runs through late summer.Pay: $16.36 - $20.69 per hour, DOQSeasonal/Temporary, Non-Exempt, Not Benefit EligibleApplication Deadline: Open until filledEssential Position Functions:Pruning and care of shade and ornamental trees and shrubsAssisting with installation of park landscape plantingsRemoval of dead trees from public propertyClearing and brush work for new parks and trails, chipping brushMulching and irrigating treesAssisting with prairie managementAssisting with Tree Inventory ProgramSafely Operate The Following Equipment:Chain sawSkid steer loaderSmall tractor or loader with various attachmentsBrush chipperVariety of hand toolsOther forestry related equipmentOther Position Functions:Assist other city departments as assignedMiscellaneous tasks related to City forestry and park operations; other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:18 years of age or older by the start of the positionValid Driver's LicenseMust be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and the publicMust be physically capable of performing the assigned tasks and able to perform all essential position functionsMust be neatly groomed and willing to wear and maintain a City issued uniformMust be able to lift 70 pounds and work in a variety of weather conditionsThings that may help you be successful in this role:Significant experience in forestry or landscapingAssociates degree or certificate in forestry or horticultureWorking Conditions: 95% field 5% OtherMust be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions experienced in Eagan during the months of April through November.
Weather conditions encountered may include heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc.Hours Of Work:Normally 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through FridayAverage 40 hours per week during peak season, occasional hours during April and November (before and after peak season).
