Our client situated in the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve is looking for a FRONT OF HOUSE / FIELD GUIDE COUPLE to join their team.
FIELD GUIDE
KEY FOCUS AREAS:
· Provide a professional, personalised and educational wildlife experience to guests including game drives and bush walks
· Ensure that vehicle and field guide equipment is kept in excellent working condition
· Firearm procedures are in line with statutory requirements
· Hosting of guests
· Assist with bush clearing/road maintenance as needed

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
:
· 3 to 5 years’ experience guiding in in a similar lodge environment
· FGASA Level 2, ARH & Full Trails Guide Qualification
· DEAT Registered
· Valid South African Driver’s License and PrDP
· Valid First Aid Certificate
· A passion for nature, animals, conservation and the environment
· General vehicle maintenance and lodge maintenance knowledge
· Good command of the English language, written and spoken
· Ability to cope with pressure
· Excellent organizational and planning skills
· Co-operative and happy to work with the balance of the team in the interests of the lodge and the guests
· Organized with attention to detail and time
· Able to anticipate guests needs and facilitating the small touches that enhance the guest
experience
· Excellent social and interpersonal skills, bright bubbly personality, enthusiastic.
· Professional and neat in personal appearance and image

FRONT OF HOUSE
KEY FOCUS AREAS:
· Guest Relations and Hosting
· Ensure Guest satisfaction
· Meet and greet guests on arrival
· Good interaction/communication with Lodge Management and fellow staff and guest
· Lodge related administration, guest communication
· Hosting of meals and bush functions, ensuring the smooth running of meal services and high standards of service are maintained
· Perform room checks, guest check ins and orientations
· Perform guest check outs, ensuring that guest bills are correct and that payment is taken and recorded correctly

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
:

· Hotel school qualification or Tertiary education preferred
· Fluent in English, excellent English Verbal and Written communication skills
· At least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role in a 5-star Game Lodge preferred
· Computer literate at intermediate level, MS Office, Excel with a working knowledge of Eres, Apex and Pastel being beneficial
· Able to work efficiently and effectively as part of a Team and Independently
· Valid South African Driver’s License
· Flexible attitude and willing to take on tasks as necessary
· Excellent social and interpersonal skills, able to interact with guests and behave appropriately
· High sense of responsibility
· Willing to work flexible hours around guest arrival and departure times
· Ability to multi-task, be flexible and able to work accurately under pressure
· Accuracy when compiling guest bills, payments and balancing spreadsheets
· Passion for people, bubbly outgoing and ability to communicate with guests and staff on all levels and a love for life in the bush a must
· Neat, tidy and well presented
· Attention to detail

COMPENSATION:
· Market related salary DOE
· 50% medical Aid, Provident fund, Uniform, 15 days' annual leave per year
· Meals and Accommodation while on duty
· Work cycle of 6 weeks on 2 weeks' cycle leave
· Must live on site
