This is the candidate's personality profile that the Financial Director is seeking for this position This listed entity is on an expansion path around South Africa which has resulted in this entry-level position. The candidate will be mentored by and report directly to the Financial Director, noting that the Managing Director will also give direction and his expertise on the projects. The main mandate will be for the candidate to manage 3 new building projects around South Africa together with the refurbishment of several other properties. In addition, the candidate will be involved in a number of other projects which will include assisting with the upgrade of the existing computer system, as well as providing key basic financial information for a number of acquisitions. It is not expected that the candidate will have relevant experience and knowledge in respect of properties, IT and acquisitions as he or she will be trained and mentored as outlined above with the view to becoming either a Financial Manager at one of the many branches or even to move into a Regional Financial Manager role for the right person. The candidate will mainly use Excel to control each project which is contract-driven and will record and account for the expenses thereof. This will include recording all the financial transactions relevant to the building projects and being involved in the intricate and complex requirements needed in an FMCG environment. For example, there are many specific warehouse and storage requirements including refrigeration, freezing, panelling, racking, material handling equipment, IT requirements etc. The candidate will be responsible for drawing up the Budget for each project, will negotiate with contractors, suppliers and other service providers, and will be involved with all the other intricacies that this position will entail. The candidate will have a B Comm:Accounting and completed articles from a small to medium firm of Chartered Accountants, being trained in all aspects of accounting, auditing, statutory requirements and similar. Strong Excel skills are required including pivot tables, V & H Look-Ups, sum-ifs and basic formulae. In addition, the successful candidate will be self-driven, able to work independently, have a thirst to learn, be ambitious to grow, as well as having an abundance of common sense.
