About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Accountant to maintain accurate, complete, and IFRS-compliant accounting records for EDF Power Solutions' South African operating companies and project SPVs.
You'll play a crucial role in monthly reporting, financial processing, tax compliance, and supporting key departments across development, construction, and operations.
This role is part of the Controllership team, working closely with the Financial Performance and Project Finance teams.
What You'll Do
Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and review accounting entries (treasury, AP, AR, intercompany, fixed assets, payroll, GL)
Prepare payment journals and account reconciliations
Perform impairment tests, provisions, reserves, and IFRS-aligned calculations
Complete month-end, half-year, and year-end close activities
Analyse actuals for accuracy and completeness
Prepare management accounts and BOFC submissions
Assist with internal/external audits and AFS reviews with external accountants
Financial Processing
Capture accurate financial data and maintain data integrity
Process bank statements, banking entries, and reconciliations
Prepare payment batches and validate payment accuracy
Maintain organised electronic financial records
Coupa Responsibilities
Maintain supplier master data
Manage supplier creation, updates, and support
Review expense accounting
Oversee JIT supplier enablement processes
Tax & Compliance
Prepare tax reconciliations (VAT, WHT, Income Tax, Deferred Tax)
Assist with SARS audits
Prepare reporting for Audit & Risk Committees and Boards
Systems & Internal Controls
Support ERP integrity and application performance
Assist with designing and documenting internal controls and SOPs
Cross-Departmental Support
Provide actuals and documentation for ESG, ED, Construction, and Asset Management teams
Support reporting for NERSA, Eskom, Envusa, lenders, sponsors, communities, and IPPO
Respond to ad-hoc financial queries from all business units
Understand and apply HSE responsibilities as part of daily duties
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
BCom Accounting degree or equivalent tertiary qualification
Experience
2+ years professional experience as a Professional Accountant in South Africa
Competencies
Technical:
Strong knowledge of IFRS
Understanding of South African tax and statutory legislation
Experience with ERP systems and financial processes
Commercial and business awareness
Behavioral:
High attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong communication and presentation skills
