Job Description
This position will form part of management within finance.
As part of the Finance team the candidate will have the great opportunity to work closely with business and build valuable relationships with external stakeholders and all levels of management/business partners across the Bank. Main responsibilities will be to complete the monthly DI returns (Similar to BA returns in commercial banks), be involved in the completion financial month end and be responsible for finance related reporting, including month end management packs, and compilation of Annual financial statements yearly.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Key correspondent South African Reserve Bank and completion of Monthly DI returns.
Completion and responsibility for the accuracy and compliance of monthly DI returns to the Prudential authority (Similar to BA returns in commercial bank)
Be key correspondent (with the support of management) with SARB on all Bank related matters
Reporting and preparing financial information for monthly management reporting in accordance with IFRS;
Analysis of monthly management reports/financial statements including variance analysis etc.
By using advanced Excel skills manipulate, analyse and review large sets of data
Drive automation of manual processes
Compiling information to be included in the monthly Management Information Pack
Assisting in the year-end audit and be a key liason with external auditors for both the Statutory and Regulatory audit;
Correspondent with Group finance relating to Annual financial statements layout and preparation and
Ad hoc duties for line manager – Head: Treasury and Regulatory & CFO and other value add to the business.
Requirements
Preferred CA(SA) qualification,
A sound knowledge of accounting practice, statutory IFRS and management accounting as well as experience in finance month end reporting.
External reporting including preparation of Annual financial statements and external audit engagement and management.
Knowledge of Pastel evolution would be helpful.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience in data manipulation and analysis
Agile and ability to drive automation in a project manner
At least 5 years financial services, preferably transactional and microfinance banking industry experience.
Experience in problem solving and taking ownership for dispute resolution.
Ability to learn quickly and be flexible around deliverables
Accurate and strong attention to detail and analytical capability.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team player.
Composed and confident to interact with Senior Executives
Strong time management skills and ability to comply with strict deadlines andability to work in a busy and strenuous environment.
Good communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
