JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to ensure accurate financial information and reporting across the organization, including timely provision of group and statutory reporting, forecasts and Budgets to meet business needs and to provide proactive advice and guidance to Merchants Executive and Leadership teams in respect to all financial matters affecting the company.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

* Monthly Accounting Procedures
* Ensuring all transactions are Complete, Accurate and Valid at all times (CAV)
* Manages timeous processing of debtors, creditors, cashbook and general ledger in line with International Financial Reporting Standards
* Compiles accurate annual financial statements, management accounts, forecasts, budgets, accruals and prepayments
* Prepares and reconciles all intercompany loans and trading accounts
* Defines and implements month end and yearly accounting timetables
* Manages expenditure against budgets
* Ensures timeous billing to customers and payments to creditors
* Manages auditors (including internal and external audits)
* Liaises with business unit heads/ Budget holders and clients as required
* Manages and controls the Company's fixed asset registers.
* Group Reporting
* Responsible for the monthly consolidated results pack
* Responsible for sending out timely management accounts to the business units
* Responsible for the monthly consolidated DD management accounts pack
* Produces the annual consolidated DD statutory pack
* Produces ad hoc reports as requested by Management.
* Reporting and support to the SA Leadership team
* Statutory Reporting
* Produces the annual statutory accounts
* Completes the analysis for the annual corporation tax computations
* Manage the P11D process and employee benefits reporting (PSA)
* Prepares VAT and ONS returns.
* Cash Management and Financial Performance
* Reporting and analyses of company performance.
* Ensure appropriate KPI's are put in place and reviewed by the business on a monthly basis.
* Initiating projects to ensure financial improvements and efficiencies across the business are achieved.
* Maximising financial performance and accuracy by providing support to the business ensuring they understand their performance against budgets on a monthly basis.
* Manages, monitors and interprets cash flow and predicts future trends including regular cashflow forecasts.
* Manages the accurate and timely completion of the Company's cashbooks
* Maintains bank relationships - DD and locally
* Authorises on-line payments and ensures expenses are appropriate at all times (CAV)
* Manages petty cash, supply corporate accounts and credit cards
* Manages Foreign exchange exposure
* Systems and processes
* Maintains integrity and relevance of the financial systems
* Ensures internal controls are maintained in line with Group policy
* Reviews and improves financial processes and procedures
* Works with the business to establish and maintain processes which affect finance and the profitability of the company.
* Maintains register of all finance policies and procedures
* Relationships
* Provides the focal point for external relationships, i.e., Bank, Revenue and Customs, Auditors, Employee Benefits provider
* Manages the banking facilities
* Manages payroll
* Maintains key relationships internally with the Executive team, Leadership team, business support cost centre heads and DD Key contacts.
* Business Planning
* Business modeling and planning wherever needed
* Business review presentation wherever needed
* Records and Manages business risk
* Prepares monthly and annual budgets

* Ensures the department is fully equipped to handle the work load and distribute work flow

* Communicates effectively, building and maintaining relationships
* Ensures consistent compliance to company policies and procedures, corporate governance and relevant legislation

* Identifies need for creation of position and forward recommendation to direct manager and

* Ensures appointments are in line with EE targets / strategy
* Selects and places candidates in terms of agreed recruitment and selection process

* Training and Development
* Continually strives to up-skill and motivate staff through effective leadership, mentoring, coaching, performance improvement and the creation and implementation of individual development plans
* Monitors implementation of training needs as per individual development plans
* Guides in Career Pathing and ensures Succession Planning
* Identifies, manages and develops talent
* Assumes responsibility for identifying key roles and potential successors for the roles
* Ensures successors are placed within an acceptable time frame.
* Performance Management
* Sets direct reports quantitative and qualitative performance objectives and ensure individual performance objectives are in place and reviewed to meet organisational and individual needs
* Ensures bi-annual performance reviews take place with direct reports, identifies poor performance and takes corrective action
Knowledge (including education and experience)

* ACCA qualified or equivalent- 5 + years financial management experience
* Experience managing a finance team
* 5+ years commercial experience
* Financial process experience
* Financial systems experience
* Microsoft Office including advanced Excel
* Foreign exchange experience
* Tax experience
