Job Purpose: The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to oversee the execution of routine farming activities.
Minimum Requirements: Senior certificate/Grade 12 (or equivalent qualification)A minimum of 1 year relevant experienceA valid (Code 8) driving licence.

General farm workSoil cultivation, preparation for different pastures with tractors and various equipmentHandling of irrigation equipment/planting, fertilizing, spraying and harvesting of seeds for veld restorationCleaning, weighing, sorting and packaging seeds and plant material harvested for veld restoration and researchAssisting with preparation of veld research trials and data collectionWater supply related activities/handling of tractors and equipment, tools, vehicles/fencingMaintenance of infrastructureSupervision of personnel and admin related functionsKey Performance Areas: Overseeing routine activities in crop productionAnimal productionGeneral farm workInfrastructure maintenance activitiesAdmin related functionsA good understanding of: Plant science and researchGeneral farm workMaintenance of infrastructureSupervision of personnelAdministration related functionsWritten and verbal communication skillsRemuneration: R 216 417 - R 254 928 per annum (Salary Level 5)
