Reference: JHB002110-A-1 An Enrolled Nurse vacancy is available at our client, Wits Health Consortium's Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) in Soweto - Gauteng. Background The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) was established in 1996. The Perinatal HIV Research Unit has been involved in research, training, policy formation and advocacy in issues concerning HIV-positive women and their children. In recent years the work of the unit has expanded beyond the original focus of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, to include treatment trials in adults and children, prevention research, psychosocial research and policy development. In addition the Unit has developed an HIV vaccine clinical trials unit (HVCTU) and started with HIV Vaccine Trials back in 2001. The unit is recognised nationally and internationally as a leader in the field of research and policy in the area of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. It has also developed a reputation as a leading African research unit for clinical trials in adult and children with HIV, with one of the largest cohort. Main purpose of the job Provide counseling, care and screening to participants of the study and to assist with phlebotomy and other study related duties Location Soweto - Johannesburg Key performance areas In the event where CRFs and source documents are not available timeously, it will be your duty to locate them To do study related duties as specified by the protocol Provide HIV counselling and testing Obtain HIV testing & treatment/PrEP history All sample collection Ensure samples are labelled correctly and shipped to the study specified laboratory within the time frames for sample shipment Highlight any sample irregularities to the core study team Regularly communicate with and provide update to PHRU core team Maintain participant confidentially throughout the study Manage money for reimbursement and distribute coupons Communicate routinely with the study coordinator and principal investigator To do visit observations (BP, Pulse, Temperature, Weight and Height) To perform obtain urine samples as required To set-up/maintain participant source documents using the appropriate online platform To attend all staff meetings To take part in applicable training for staff To assist with completion of required questionnaires and tracking forms at each visit when necessary Do proper filing of results and any other study related documents in the relevant assigned place, and enter results into the REDCap system, as they become available Refer Participants if necessary Draw blood from participants for laboratory testing Ensure that laboratory kits are always available on site, and are correctly used Samples must be correctly labelled, stored, &shipped according to the protocol and SOP for your site Ensure that blood specimens are taken to the laboratory timeously & relevant documentation is completed to support tracking of samples Ensure that laboratory results are filed correctly Ensure that all informed consent forms are completed/done correctly Required minimum education and training Qualified as an enrolled nurse GCP Training Valid code 08 driver’s licence Professional body registration Registered with the South African Nursing Council Required minimum work experience One-year Clinical Research experience Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities Preferably a male nurse Ability to lead and work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary team A friendly, informal attitude with excellent people skills Computer Literacy with good administration skills Ability to speak in local languages Ability to work well under pressure Flexibility to adapt to changes in study requirements Previous experience working with a key population such as high risk women, males or sex workers an advantage TO APPLY Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV - Please Apply Online Please take note that the applicants who do not adhere to the above criteria will not be considered for the respective position.
