Background:The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) is a renowned African-led research institute that seeks solutions to Africa's health challengesIt is located within the University of the Witwatersrand and addresses some of the greatest public health concerns affecting our region, including HIV and its related problems, sexual and reproductive health, and vaccinologyMain purpose of the job:To optimize the testing and linkage to care of HIV exposed infantsTo implement quality improvement programmes within the facility to improve performance towards CDC targets for early infant diagnosisLocation:TshwaneKey performance areas:Screen all HIV exposed infants in the unit and ensure that they are tested for HIVIdentify and liaise for training facility staff on the collection of DBS PCR tests and HIV rapid tests where appropriateImprove the quality of data collected on blood requisition forms for infants and children including data to ensure tracing if the child tests HIV+Facilitate processes to trace HIV+ infants into HIV care to ensure ART initiation as soon as possiblePromote adherence to ART and prophylaxis according to DoH guidelinesIdentify and refer infants and mothers with ART failure or complicationsSupport counsellors in the management of adherence issues in patientsReview difficult cases with the RHI DDA and DoH staffFacilitate and follow up services such as down -
