Position: Electrical Project EngineerPosition Outline:Durban office of a reputable consulting engineering company is in the process of reviewing candidates to fill a Position: Electrical Project Engineer (based in Durban)The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design of complex projects in the industrial, petrochemical and commercial sectors. A strong technical background will therefore be necessary to do the detailed electrical engineering designs (MV, LV, motor control, stand-by power supplies, earthing & lightning protection system design, power system analysis / protection design etc.). Candidates who have been exposed to a Petrochemical environment will be favoured.An extremely high degree of accuracy in design is required in order to fulfil the requirements of this role. It is therefore essential that the successful candidate is self-driven, mature and takes responsibility for the quality of their own work.You will be responsible for the engineering and design of complex projects in the industrial, petrochemical and commercial sectors. Requirements:BSc. or BTech in Electrical EngineeringProfessional Registration with ECSA is advantageous8 or more years relevant experience A strong technical background to do the detailed electrical engineering designs (MV, LV, motor control, stand-by power supplies, earthing and lightning protection system design, power system analysis / protection design etc.) Job Description: Project ManagementPreparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring of assigned engineering projects.Interacting with clients, interpreting their needs and requirements.Performing quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and team performance and reporting on project status.Cooperating and communicating with the project director / manager and other project participants and collaborating with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability.Review the engineering tasks and initiating the necessary corrective actionsSite InvestigationsVisits sites and prepare evaluations of existing sitesPreparation of conceptual designsAssist with the preparation of conceptual reports which will include preliminary designs and analyses, drawings, cost estimates, project schedules and project implementation plans.Develop specifications for the projects required equipment.Preparation of Detailed DesignsPreparation of detailed designs, analyses, tender drawings, schedules of quantities, contract documents, project cost estimates, project schedules and project implementation plansPrepare equipment datasheets and specificationsEstablish field tests methods and methods for monitoring the quality of those tests.Ensure the project's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards and specifications.Supervision of Tender ProcessAssist with management of the Issue of tenders, preparation of notices to tenders, adjudication of tenders and preparation of tender reporting.Supervision of ConstructionAssist with handling site queries, prepare monthly payment certificates, cost report cost control and manage quality assuranceVisits sites during construction to confirm installations are being done as per design intent.Assist with systems commissioningAdministrationAssist with preparation of standardsFile drawingsPrinting of drawingsPreparation of drawing issue slips
