Participates as a member of the Emergency Department staff to assist with ensuring patient safety.
Provides constant observation or 15-minute safety checks for patients at risk of injury.
Performs other support duties as needed.
Major Responsibilities: Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Emergency Department Resource Nurse.Assists patients with undressing, secures belongings, and removes items that could cause injury.Conducts patient safety checks every 15 minutes for assigned patients.Supervises patients in the bathroom, assists with meals, and de-escalates patients using sensory and distraction techniques.Prevents unsafe patient movement and actions.Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.Ability to complete de-escalation training and obtain Basic Life Support or Heartsaver certification.Experience/Skills: Effective communication skills in English, with good interpersonal skills.Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergencies.Ability to assist in physical restraint of disturbed patients.Preferred: Experience in patient care, mental health, intellectual disabilities, teaching, child care, or public safety.Schedule: 24 hours per week; 11:00pm - 7:30amEvery other weekend and holidayAll qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
