Our client, a leading destination specialist for Southern Africa, is seeking a skilled and dynamic Destination Specialist - Inbound Travel Consultant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for travel, an eye for detail, and a proven track record in sales and operations within the tourism industry.Job PurposeThe main responsibility of this role is to successfully quote and design profitable, tailor-made tour products for existing and new clients.
The ideal candidate will be proactive in building relationships, securing new business, and creating exceptional itineraries for FIT, Group, and MICE travelers.Key ResponsibilitiesSecure business and cost products effectively to ensure profitabilityMaintain and build strong relationships with agents and suppliersDevelop a strategic approach to increase business opportunities through existing and new agentsStay ahead of the market trends and ensure margin controlCollaborate with the team to meet and exceed sales targetsDesign creative and successful itineraries and proposals for ADHOC groups, Tour Series, and FIT requestsCapture and confirm bookings using TourplanNegotiate with suppliers to secure better rates, cancellation policies, and FOC'sSource new suppliers with competitive pricing and excellent serviceFollow up on sent quotes and ensure successful bookingsHandle group tours, tour series, and FIT bookingsPrepare welcome pack documents, co-pilots, and guide documentationManage the 24-hour emergency phone line for immediate supportWork closely with tour guides before and during travelInstruct debtors to raise invoices and assist with invoice queriesReconcile supplier invoices for accurate processingWork with the debtors' clerk to resolve collection and invoicing issuesReconcile tour guide expense sheets and check guide salary invoices after tour completionAdditional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in supplier training sessions and workshopsStrive to reduce transaction turnaround timesEnsure excellent communication and customer care at all stagesKeep up to date with changes in suppliers, products, and industry eventsTravel on educational trips and familiarization toursRequired Skills and ExperienceProven experience in inbound travel consultancy or related fieldStrong sales and negotiation skillsExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsAbility to design creative itineraries and respond to client needs efficientlyProficiency in Tourplan (or similar systems) is an advantageStrong financial acumen for managing supplier invoices and reconciliationA passion for travel, particularly Southern AfricaWhy Join Us?This is a unique opportunity to join a leading destination specialist and play an essential role in curating unforgettable travel experiences in Southern Africa.
