To be successful in the role you will need to:Build and optimise data systems:Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems. Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices. Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proof of concepts. Expertly process data:Develop batch processing and real-time data streaming capabilities. Read, extract, transform, stage, and load data to selected tools and frameworks as required. Build data Integrations Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs. Collaborate with data analytics and BI teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision-making across the organisation.Be versatile with technology Exhibit proficiency in ETL tools such as Apache NiFi or Talend and a deep understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra. Demonstrate expertise in at least one cloud services platform like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform/Engine, or AWS. Focus onquality assuranceImplement systems for monitoring data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it. Have a growth mindset Stay informed of the latest developments in data engineering, and adopt best practices to continuously improve the robustness and performance of data processing and storage systems.Key skills & qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a Data Engineering role, with aproven track recordof successful data infrastructure projects. Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, R, and Python. Strong knowledge of data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques. Proficiency in at least one of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform/Engine, or AWS Lambda environments.Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Pyramid, and Google Looker Studio. Excellent analytical andproblem-solving skills. Effectivecommunication skillsto convey technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies Relevant experience required:Previous roles might include Data Engineer, Data Systems Developer, or similar positions with a focus on building and maintaining scalable, reliable data infrastructures. Strong experience in API development, integration, and management.
