CURRRICULUM COORDINATOR – DURBAN
CORE PURPOSE
To coordinate the process of developing new module guides between the various stakeholders to ensure that this is aligned to MANCOSA’s vision and mission.
CORE FUNCTIONS
DUTIES/TASKS
Coordination and Administration
• Coordinate new module development in line with the institution’s vision and mission
• Attend weekly department meetings and provide a report on current projects
• Keep records regularly and monitor accordingly
• Liaise with internal and external academics, librarian, and colleagues for purposes of monitoring the progress of new module development
Build excellent relations with all internal and external academics and service providers in order to ensure a smooth working relationship as well as intervene in any matters providing the best workable solutions between the various service providers and curriculum development
Study Material Development (including Workbooks, Reports, etc.)
• Devise a plan for each new module being development based on the existing plan in conjunction with the Curriculum Manager: Curriculum Development
• Notify potential writers and moderators of interviews and meetings timeously
• Prepare for interviews and meetings having all relevant documentation ready
• Monitor the progress of module development
• Attend the relevant committee meetings for Module Development
• Ensure Administrator keeps minutes of all meetings
• Track all processes which will allow easy follow up on the process of writing and moderating
• Facilitate the process of sourcing, interviewing, writing and final completion of Module Guides for new programmes
• Liaise with the Graphic Artist on design concept, lead articles and pictures required
• Liaise with the Librarian to source prescribed textbooks for the writing of module guides
• Check and sign off on study material sent to the printers
• Liaise with the Printers regarding the status printed study materials
Create Programme Information Sheets for new programmes
Sourcing Writers and Moderators
• Provide assistance to the Curriculum Manager: Curriculum Development to source writers and moderators to update existing module guides.
• Liaise with internal and external Academics, Directors and other stakeholders to get CVs of potential writers and moderators
• Review potential writers’ and moderators’ CVs
• Shortlist potential writers and moderators to be interviewed
• Convene interviews and meetings with writers and moderators
• Notify potential writers and moderators of interviews timeously
• Prepare for interviews having all relevant documentation ready
Maintain a database of writers’ and moderators’ CVs
Development of Reporting Templates Guides and Forms
Work in collaboration with other department members and stakeholders in the development of reporting templates, forms and guides
Regulatory Bodies
• Prepare for and ensure attendance at any site visits relating to the academic programmes
• Participate in any regulatory body activity
Ensure Compliance to regulatory standards
Professional Development
• Assist with conducting training for programme developers
• Assist with conducting training for academic staff on areas of accreditation
• Actively participate in staff development initiatives offered by the institution
Engage in ongoing professional development to upgrade knowledge field of expertise
General
• Adhere to and loyally perform reasonable instructions, functions and tasks
• Assist and attend institution functions as and when required
• Fulfil any other reasonable request from Management
Assist with graduation
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum Degree or Equivalent
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3 Years in the related role
• Deadline driven and process orientated
• Consult and engages with appropriate stakeholders
RELATED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
• Excellent Communication and Writing skills
• Have a good understanding of the Higher Education landscape
• Proficient in MS Office
