Consultant - Social Performance & Public Affairs (Associate Level)

ERM is looking for a Level 2 Consultant (CL2) to join the ERM Africa Business Unit, to be based in either Nairobi, Kenya or Maputo, Mozambique or Johannesburg / Cape Town / Durban, South Africa.
We are looking for someone with approximately 5 years relevant social performance experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, which may comprise a mix of experience in:
Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration Planning and Implementation
Social Impact Assessment
Stakeholder Engagement Planning / Consultation Coordination
Community / Social Development Planning
Gender mainstreaming
Indigenous Peoples Assessment
Social Due Diligence
We are looking for candidates with experience working on projects compliant with international E&S safeguards and standards, across a range of sectors (i.e energy, transport, infrastructure, extractives) across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English.Candidates who are also fluent in French (spoken/written) or Portuguese (spoken/written) will be preferred.
Travel within Sub-Saharan will be required on a regular basis.

In addition to the above, the applicant will be expected to support the successful delivery of ERM proposals and projects in line with our vision, values and our strategic imperatives by:

• Adhering to all ERM and client requirements, specifically those related to H&S and governance.
• Applying client/sector knowledge when carrying out tasks associated with drafting project deliverables and or proposals.
• Using ERM’s methodologies and technologies consistently in line with ERM and client expectations.
• Managing and successfully delivering small discrete projects/tasks and /or specific deliverables or phases of work on larger projects.
• Supervising subcontractors during fieldwork, ensuring they comply with ERM's Health & Safety policies and ABC code and work is completed in line with project scope.
