Position OutputsThe purpose of the role is to manage, execute and implement the Marketing Communications plan in alignment with the overall marketing and communication strategy for the business as well as to provide support to the various line of business (LOB) in the form of communication expertise, plans, processes, tools and communication management.Working closely with senior executives and line managers to establish organisational messages and keep employees informed of developments in order to facilitate employee engagement across various channels, while managing all aspects of the brand in relation to Communications.
The incumbent will also develop external Communications strategy, promoting brand awareness and reputation while implementing communication plans to influence consumers.
The role is also focused on achieving brand objectives in line with short and long term strategic business goals, uncovering consumer insights and delivering innovative campaigns to attract and influence prospective customers while managing and ensuring positive brand sentiment.Key deliverables and outputs• Creating a plan and strategy, ensuring all aspects of the company's activities align with the ethos and goals of the brand in conjunction with the senior marketing and communications team.• Manage and uphold positive brand reputation.• Creating content that results in brand loyalty and improving market share.• Plan, edit and write content for a variety of external communications mediums, such as press releases, thought leadership articles, holding statements, and press offices.• Championing the brand internally making sure all elements of the company understand the brand and its goals.• Managing the budget for advertising and promotional items.• Support marketing campaigns through communication and advertising.• Analysing the success of communications, marketing and communications initiatives and creating reports.• Supervising advertising, product design and other forms of marketing to maintain consistency in branding.• Monitor market trends, research consumer markets and competitors' activities to support communication strategy.• Analyse brand positioning and consumer insights or sentiment.• Align the company around the brand's direction, choices and tactics.• Measure and report performance of all PR, marketing and communications initiatives, and assess ROI and KPIs.• Continually assess the alignment of a brand to organisations' strategic objectives.• Ensuring the brand is accessible to the public.• Boosting the image of the organisation to prospective customers and making the product or service as attractive as possible.Communications:• Coordinate communications activities across the Barloworld Group.• Develop internal brand engagement strategy in conjunction with the senior marketing and communications team.• Support the marketing department in implementing successful campaigns.• Manage, execute and implement the internal communications plan in alignment with the overall strategy for the business.• Manage and be the custodian of all internal communication collateral e.g.
brochures, intranet, video etc.• Ensure organisational initiatives are successfully and consistently communicated to all employees through various channels.• Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal and communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly magazine or regular email bulletin.• Work with the design and marketing teams on the production and development of all internal content.• Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.• Support the business with market related content when required.• Effectively apply a structured method/approach in regard to the roll-out of the initiatives.• Ensure appropriate record keeping procedures are adhered to.• Feedback/status/progress reports to be circulated/presented to key reporting managers on a weekly/monthly basis.• Co-ordinate activities as required for Barloworld Equipment.• Act as a point of contact on the management of internal communications, providing advice and guidance on the full range of existing internal communications channels and developing new activities as appropriate.• Represent internal communications on projects as required to ensure that project managers take note of internal communication needs.• Build a knowledge base of each business unit, organization and objectives.• Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.• Plan and develop Human Capital (HC) related communications.• Manage the HC Communications content calendar from planning, content development and dissemination.Qualifications, Experience and CompetenciesAcademic qualificationsEssential:Degree in PR, Corporate Communications or the equivalent.Advantageous:Post graduate degree in marketing, communications or psychology.Work experienceEssential:• 5 - 7 years in PR and communication services in a business to business environment.• Proven track record of translating complex business strategy into internal communications and PR campaigns.• Proven ability to develop PR and communications strategies and communicate recommendations to senior management.• Experience managing a brand across multiple markets.KnowledgeEssential:• Industry best practices and methodologies.• Future industry trends.• Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication.• Knowledge on employee value proposition.• Understanding of consumer needs and behaviour.Advantageous:Experience within the industrial space.SkillsEssential:• Communication skills related to persuading and influencing.• Listening.• Strong ability to reason with written information.• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees.• Highly developed interpersonal skills related to networking & conflict handling, including sensitivity to diversity.• Thinking skills to analyse and diagnose requirements or problems, develop integrated solutions and solve problems.• Ability to effectively record facts and chart information visually.• Strong ability to multi-task.• Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind.• Up-to-date with latest trends, PR and communications best practices.• Strong communication skills.• Time and project management skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Personal AttributesEssential:• Strong attention to detail.• Commitment to maintaining business awareness.• Concern for communicating clearly.• Commitment to behaving correctly and ethically.• Concern for leading others & our cultures.• Customer centricity and focus.• Focus on innovating.• Focus on convincing and persuading.• Openness to accepting feedback.• Strategic thinker able to identify long-term opportunities and trends.• Have the ability to think big, delivering innovative strategic solutions.Advantageous:• Focus on getting things done.• Readiness to make and own decisions.• Orientation towards growing and nurturing relationships.• Strong inclination for change agility.• Preference for team-working.• Appreciation for challenging others with respect.• Perseverance.• Creative thinker and problem solver.• Focus on initiating action.• Readiness to make and own decisions.
