We are committed to delivering end-to-end logistics solutions that drive value, compliance, and customer satisfaction.We are seeking a high-performing Commercial Manager with at least 5 years of leadership experience in the logistics industry.Role OverviewThe Commercial Manager will lead and drive revenue growth through strategic sales planning, client retention, legal and regulatory oversight, and cross-departmental collaboration.The ideal candidate will have in-depth logistics expertise, a solid understanding of SARS customs legislation, and a proven track record of managing their own client portfolio.
This role involves collaboration across operations, finance, legal, and client strategy teams.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Strategy & Sales LeadershipDrive commercial growth across all business verticals.Develop and implement strategies to acquire new business and expand existing accounts.Negotiate and present bespoke solutions and commercial agreements aligned with business goals.Manage and grow a self-generated client portfolio with measurable revenue impact.Regulatory & Legal OversightEnsure compliance with SARS customs regulations and legislation.Provide guidance on legal aspects of client agreements, trade terms, and disputes.Coordinate with legal advisors when necessary.Cross-Functional LeadershipCollaborate with operations, finance, compliance, and customer service teams.Provide insights into costing, margin analysis, and service improvements.Lead initiatives to enhance interdepartmental collaboration and profitability.Reporting & AccountabilityReport sales performance, pipeline health, and growth opportunities to senior management.Offer market trend analysis, client needs assessment, and competitive insights.Maintain accurate and transparent documentation.Minimum Requirements5+ years of experience in a senior commercial or business development role within freight forwarding or logistics.Deep knowledge of airfreight, seafreight, cross-border transport, and warehousing solutions.Proven client portfolio and revenue success.Strong understanding of SARS customs processes, legislation, and compliance.Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.Financial acumen and proficiency in MS Office, CRM, and logistics platforms (e.g., Shipshape).Valid driver's license and own transport.Ideal Candidate TraitsStrategic yet hands-on approach.Commercially sharp with excellent interpersonal skills.Confident in high-level negotiations.Resourceful, analytical, and solutions-oriented.Passionate about making a meaningful impact across departments.What We OfferMarket-related salary with performance incentives.Medical aid, retirement annuity, and life cover.Leadership role in a rapidly growing logistics company with an international network.Opportunity to influence business strategy and growth.Application ProcessIf you're ready to leverage your commercial expertise, legal understanding, and leadership skills, submit your CV and cover letter outlining your achievements and fit for this role.
