We are seeking a highly skilled Commerce Analytics Lead to serve as a critical bridge between business units and IT.This role ensures seamless collaboration and alignment of analytics initiatives with business objectives across South Africa and key African markets, including Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Islands, and Eswatini.The position demands a strong combination of business engagement skills, analytics expertise, and governance capabilities, with a focus on demand management, financial oversight, data stewardship, and driving Data Literacy & Data Asset Utilisation in the business.Key Responsibilities :Business Engagement and Demand Management :Act as the primary contact between business stakeholders and IT for analytics projects and enhancements.Capture, assess, and prioritize demands from business units, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.Collaborate with stakeholders across African markets to understand local needs and tailor solutions, engaging at the Country Managing Director and Functional Director levels.Identify data and analytic competency gaps and coordinate sessions with relevant Data Product Owners or external vendors.Project and Enhancement Management :Manage analytics-related projects, ensuring oversight with delivery leads to generate value and meet business objectives.Evaluate demands, categorizing them as projects or enhancements.Coordinate with IT to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.Oversee Capex and Opex management for analytics initiatives.Assess vendor quotes for cost-effectiveness and value.Handle administrative tasks related to financial tracking and reporting.Data Stewardship and Quality Management :Ensure the accuracy, quality, and reliability of critical data as a Data Steward.Support compliance with data quality standards, collaborating with IT and business units.Monitor and resolve data integrity issues in collaboration with the AMS / Data Quality team.Promote data asset utilization through clarity on usage, training, and adoption.Governance and Compliance :Lead governance activities related to BI AMS, Digital Factory, and business processes.Conduct access reviews, manage data permissions, and ensure policy compliance.Oversee workspace management for analytics environments.Engage with governance bodies such as the Data Governing Body and Audit Committee.Support interactions with CAD auditing and statutory auditors.Stakeholder Collaboration :Foster strong relationships with stakeholders across Africa, ensuring alignment and effective communication.Communicate effectively with technical teams and business leaders to promote collaboration and clarity.Qualifications and Skills :Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, IT, or a related field.5+ years of experience in analytics, business-IT liaison roles, or related fields.Strong understanding of analytics processes, data management, and governance principles.Proven ability to manage financial aspects including Capex and Opex.Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Power BI) and data access / workspace management.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.Knowledge of the African business landscape is an advantage.
