Commercial Analyst Location: Olifantsfontein, Gauteng, South Africa Reports to: Head of FinanceMain Purpose of the job

The Commercial Analyst will support the Head of Finance in delivering the annual business plan and budget including forecasts and reviews, ongoing business performance monitoring, reporting, analysis and insights, financial modelling and post investment review of commercial decisions and deals. The role will also support the Sales Account Team, providing financial analysis, support and commercial direction.

Role and Activity
Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns.

Incorporate the forecast model into a financial model.
Conduct benchmarking and process analysis.
Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
Identify trends, advise company and recommend actions based on sound analysis.
Track and determine financial status by analysing actual results in comparison with forecasts.
Report on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies.

Conduct monthly forecast maintenance by comparing and correcting data – keeping record of anomalies within the business
Consult with management to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making within the broadest scope
Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function
Monitor and report on variances and actualizing marginal reporting within financial models
Assist with ad hoc tasks as required by the Head of Finance or other functional teams
Ensure compliance with general frameworks, policies and procedures

Key Requirements:

CA (SA), CIMA or Equivalent Senior Financial Qualification
Must have worked in FMCG environment for at least 8 years
5 years + experience in a similar role
Fluency in standard software including Excel, Access, JDE. SQL will be advantageous
Solid problem solving and root cause analysis experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical and business sense
Strong attention to detail, and the ability to self-start and self-motivate
Proven ability to work successfully in an ambiguous environment
Leadership skills and the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
