The responsibilities for the successful candidate will be to:Develop and implement the organizational financial plans in alignment with the approved organizational strategyProvide effective financial control and leadership to the company whilst working as an integral part of the team.Ensure the existence of robust financial risk management strategies and policies to mitigate against risksImplement continuous financial auditing and control systems to evaluate and monitor organizational performancePrepare and present the annual financial statements and other related reportsReport on operational activities, efficiencies, and variances in line with laws, regulations and policyImplement and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies as well as best practicesPrepare annual budget and consolidative business unit budgets, financial and business plans, feasibility studies and other operational plans for approval by the BoardMonitor and report on all accounting irregularities, non-compliance and gaps which are related to financial systems and processes (actual and potential), and recommend corrective measuresManage service level agreements with suppliers including accountants and auditors, consultants, underwriters, etc.Develop and maintain working relationships with other financial institutions and regulatory bodies to operationalise working plans and corporate governanceDevelop and continuously improve accounting systems including software and other financial communication systemsInitiate and engage in all manner of activities that will ensure financial health, growth and achievement of business goalsAttract, develop, and retain talented staff including fostering of a high performance cultureBe a catalyst for changeThe following minimum requirements must be met in order to be considered for this position:Postgraduate tertiary qualification in commerce and banking or equivalentA Chartered Accountant with at least seven (7) years related senior executive experience preferably in a banking environmentKnowledge, insight and experience in facilitating the effective management of the treasury functionKnowledge of computerized systems (ERP Systems)In depth knowledge and application ability of finance management and developmentDiplomacy, discretion, negotiation, analytical and problem solving skillsAn intimate understanding of the organization together with an appreciation of its strategic objectives, policies and proceduresA proven record of a successful career in financial managementWell-developed presentation and negotiation skillsThorough knowledge of relevant legislation like Banks Act, PFMA, IFRS etc.High financial skills and acumen to compile, manage and report on financial status of the divisionThe ability to perceive and understand the true nature of a commercial opportunity in a competitive market and to develop strategies to harness the opportunity, specifically within the KZN environmentHonesty, integrity and good business ethics
