This company is a Section 3a Public Entity, with a national footprint and over 7000 staff. It also fulfils vital education and research functions.
It now seeks an excellent, experienced and dynamic leader to take the institution forward to the next level of efficiency, innovation and technical excellence.
This is a 5 year fixed term contract.
Minimum requirements
Relevant Master’s degree qualification (NQF level 9) with management related post graduate studies.
Minimum of 15 years’ relevant management experience of which 10 years’ experience must have been spent in an executive management role.
Minimum of eight 8 years’ work experience in the health sector or related entities, ideally including education and research.
Knowledge and understanding of applicable legislative prescripts in public finance and management and the health sector environment.

Attributes:
Relevant Masters level qualification in a Medical Profession
Registration with relevant Professional Institution
A verifiable track record of successful ethical leadership in an organization
Understands the organisation’s direction and role within the health sector and is able to align activities with company strategies.

Technical awareness of the various services offered by the company

Responsibilities:
Strategy formulation and implementation:
Collaborates with the Board to define and articulate the company vision and to develop strategies for achieving that vision
Develops annual operating plans that support the strategic direction set by the Board and correlates this with operating budgets
Submits annual plans to the Board for approval
Gives effect to the support structures, service platform and culture required by the company

General management:
Promotes a culture that reflects the organisation’s values, encourages good governance, high-performance and rewards productivity
Recruits the best talent to fill the various strategic and operational roles required to create organisational success
Fosters and drives a people- centric organisation that is focused on its strategic priorities and achieves its objectives

Client management:
Effectively gain and maintain stakeholder support for the company’s benefit
Serves as the spokesperson and representative for the organisation
Assures that the organisation and its mission, programs, finances and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
Actively advocates for the organisation, its principles and values.

People management:
Effectively manages, coaches and nurtures the development of the human capital of the organisation
Translates and interprets the vision and objectives of the organisation through verbal and written mediums
Institutes and encourages a culture of measuring and managing performance and rewarding contributions

Financial management:
Efficient and effective management of all company finances
Oversees budgeting, financial management and reporting in order to ensure compliance with all legislative and Board requirements
Manages the team in developing annual budgets that support operational plans
Effectively manages the organisation's resources within budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations, including the PFMA

Compliance monitoring and evaluation:
Oversees design, delivery, and quality of services
Keeps abreast of current trends related to company services and mandates. Anticipates future trends likely to have an impact on its overall purpose and delivery
Collects and evaluates information that measures the success of the organisation’s efforts and refines or changes strategy in response to that information
Ensures full compliance with all relevant legislation relating to a public entity
