Chef for Indian Fast Food Restaurant, Sandton, Johannesburg. Company Name: The Spice Kitchen Rivonia. Position: Chef for Indian Fast Food Restaurant. Location: Sandton/Rivonia. Looking for energetic people with a passion for excellent food and service.

Qualifications Required: Minimum requirement is Culinary Certification or equivalent national qualification in culinary skills at Certificate level. 3-Year Culinary Diploma or equivalent National Culinary Qualification at a diploma level will be an advantage.

Job Requirements: Must have experience in cooking and serving Indian cuisine, experience in Durban style Indian curries will be an advantage. Must be willing to work on weekends, public holidays and day or night shifts. Must be able to work long hours and under pressure. Before responding, please ensure that you have reliable transport to travel to Rivonia area.

Duties include but not limited to: Must have good all-round cooking skills including gas stove cooking + grilling+ deep frying. Ensure that cooking is done strictly to standards and recipes. Ensure consistency and quality of food and service. Must be able to prepare working schedules for kitchen staff and to manage and instruct subordinates in food quality control of all food preparations and service procedures.

Ensure that all equipment/stock under your control are managed and kept secure. Strictly monitor and control all kitchen waste. Maintain the tidiness and cleanliness of the kitchen at all times. Must be able to plan and manage stock requirements. Ensure strict hygiene controls are in place and are adhered to by all staff.

Must have considerable knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service, and of necessary precautionary measures. To ensure that all staff are constantly trained to effect good portion control and pleasing presentation of dishes. To ensure that sufficient stocks of all materials are being kept and stored under the correct conditions. To ensure that maintenance problems are promptly reported and attended to.

Ensure stock take is correctly managed as and when required. May be required to assist with any other duties that may be outside scope of responsibility.

Personal Requirements: Must be trustworthy and reliable, and willing to go the extra mile. Must be friendly, have a positive attitude and good communication skills. Must have a professional approach at all times, including appearance of self and kitchen staff. Must be able to take initiative and work under little supervision. Have good hand-eye coordination and be able to work quickly and safely. Have good personal hygiene. Be free from skin allergies to foods and detergents including copy of ID document + head and shoulder photo
