Duties & Responsibilities Support the company’s strategy while ensuring organisational liquidity and solvency Manage and report on the overall company financial results, business cases and forecasts to the senior management team (monthly) and Board (quarterly or as required) Prepare and present the annual company budget Review and ensure submission of accurate monthly VAT 201, annual income tax and provisional tax returns. Review and sign-off monthly payroll for onward processing Prepare the quarterly Board of Directors pack and act as the Company Secretary at each Board meeting Prepare the annual financial statements, ensure their approval by the Board as well as submission to all interested parties in line with communicated / known deadlines Prepare technical accounting opinions on the impact of changes in accounting standards on the financial statements of the company and ensure that these entries are processed accurately and on time Review the monthly management packs submitted to the Group reporting. In addition to the standard monthly reporting requirements, the CFO will be responsible for implementing any relevant projects / changes impacting financial reporting requirements, also those initiated from a Group level (e.g. IFRS 17) Ensure a strong control environment is maintained to minimise the risk of any adverse findings against the company during external audits and customer audits Act as the Public Officer to SARS as required by the Tax Administration Act Maintain and improve policies and processes, ensuring best practice solutions are implemented in the Finance Department, and across the company, where appropriate and when required Attending and participating in the monthly Information Security Steering Committee meetings as a standing member of the committee Act as a FAIS Key Individual to ensure the fair treatment of all policyholders under the company’s stewardship Proactively identify legislative risks and opportunities in conjunction with the Compliance Officer in order to avoid any adverse impact on the company Maintain the company risk register and ensure that controls are implemented, updated and regularly reviewed for any identified key risks Regularly engage with other functional heads to ensure the company’s continued compliance with legal and regulatory requirements Engage in and guide negotiations with internal and external stakeholders (legal, suppliers, and customers) Actively manage the company’s progress towards its BBBEE objectives in line with Group imperatives Oversee and manage personal development, performance management and succession planning of team members and direct reports to ensure optimal and efficient utilisation of people resources, talent management and retention of key personnel Any other ad hoc tasks as required by the company from time to time. Desired Experience & Qualification Qualified CA (SA) At least 6 years’ post articles experience in progressively senior financial management roles Previous experience working in Financial Services Previous relevant experience in the Insurance industry will be a distinct advantage Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite Deep experience in all areas of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles. Excellent practical knowledge of IFRS as well as internal and external audit principles Strategic thinking and strategy formulation Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
