A state-owned company, multi-employer bargaining council, is now hiring for their Councils General Secretary, who is also the Accounting Officer and is its Chief Executive Officer.It is an inherent requirement of the job is to be:1.

must have unquestionable character and integrity.Minimum requirements, qualifications and other attributes required are:Non-negotiable minimum requirementsA bachelors degree in human resources and/or law and/or business administration.A minimum of 10 years experience at senior management level in the private or public sectorA thorough understanding of South African labour legislationFinancial planning, budget, and strategy development fully financially literateStrong leadership skills with proven resultsExcellent written and verbal communication skills Preference will be given to:Candidates with a postgraduate level qualificationPrevious exposure in a bargaining council environment and structuresA track record in relationship building and management, andA team worker with problem-solving abilitiesTHE MAIN DUTIES ARE; Managing the strategic oversight of the dispute resolution processes (mediations, conciliations and arbitrations)Represent the Council or ensure that the Council is represented in certain disputes, eg demarcation disputes at the CCMAManaging the Councils panel of commissionersOverseeing collective bargaining processesLeading, supervising and managing the staff of the Council,Building and maintaining sound relationships and trust with internal stakeholders (parties to the Council) as well as with external stakeholders, namely CCMA, other bargaining councils, the Department of Employment and Labour, NEDLAC etc.Coordination, planning and attending the Councils Annual General Meeting, Main Chamber and the Divisional or sub Chamber meetings,Oversee the financial affairs of the Council.Preparing and tabling the annual report at AGM of the CouncilCORRESPONDENCEConducting correspondence on behalf of the Council, tabling such correspondence (where necessary) at Executive Committee (EXCO) meetings, sending out notices and minutes of all constitutional structures of the Council.FINANCES OF THE COUNCILTo prepare, present and manage the budget.Ensure that monthly financial statements are prepared and tabled at EXCO meetings.Cooperate with auditors in the preparation and tabling of annual audited financial statements at the AGM and the submission thereof to the Department of Employment and Labour in compliance with the Labour Relations Act.The negotiable remuneration package is on a cost to company basis that considers the seniority of the position.Qualifying candidates who are interested in this position are invited to submit a comprehensive curriculum vitae together with a motivation letter outlining their competencies through online submission onlyThe closing date is the 12th of May 2025
