Summary:
The Campaign Content Manager, Membership Marketing & Content Strategy, provides primary editorial, content production, and communications strategy support for the ASPCA’s Farm and Puppy Mill campaign efforts while also assisting the ASPCA’s larger Membership Marketing & Content Strategy and Development teams. This includes writing, editing, fact-checking and proofreading fundraising emails, blogs, news articles, advocacy messaging, ASPCA.org content, print articles and direct mail pieces as requested, as well as trafficking and developing the creation of copy and visual assets for the specific campaigns they manage. They must have an understanding of digital environments, content architecture and best practices for effective communications, and be enthusiastic to learn about the ASPCA’s campaign goals and voice in order to effectively build messaging and promotional strategy and communicate our efforts on behalf of animals.
This is a remote-based position that can be performed from a home office anywhere in the country. Candidates able to work in the Greater New York City area are preferred.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Campaign Support (45%)
Liaise between Membership Marketing & Content Strategy, the Web team, and ASPCA programs staff to plan, optimize, traffic and fulfill editorial/content requests.
Manage the strategic development and trafficking of new content, campaigns and web updates for campaigns and projects such as Barred From Love (Puppy Mills) and Shop With Your Heart (Farm Animal Welfare) with the goal of increasing audiences and effectiveness. This includes collaborating on website content structure and on the content itself, including blog posts, web updates, programmatic emails, printable assets, images, videos and large-scale engagements that leverage all components of Content Strategy, Social Media & Multimedia Services.
Manage content creation and production of the monthly Shop With Your Heart e-newsletter. Issue final approval for email. Monitor performance for opportunities to optimize.
Work with campaigns staff and Web team to continuously update the Barred From Love and Shop With Your Heart web sections, as well as any additional current or future campaign website sections as assigned by supervisor. Monitor performance for opportunities to optimize.
In collaboration with departments across the organization, stay up to date on all ASPCA events, projects and activities for use in public-facing materials.
Monitor and report on thematically relevant campaign messaging and related news or developments generated by other organizations.

Editorial Support (25%)
Write, edit, fact-check and proofread fundraising emails, blogs, web content, print articles, direct mail pieces and other items, and gather appropriate legal/departmental approvals.
Work with the Membership Marketing & Content Strategy team to plan and maintain online and offline content for various materials, including the website and print newsletters.
Serve as second editorial lead (under supervisor) in the production of the member magazine ASPCA Action; duties may include assigning, compiling and editing copy assignments, routing for review and proofing, and building out the digital version.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of content by applying house style guidelines and a keen editorial eye to all written materials.
Pitch stories and ideas for blog posts, newsletter content, campaigns and emails.
Project and Administrative Support (15%)
Participate in and report on regular intra-departmental strategy and planning meetings as requested by supervisor.
Use online project management systems to create to-do lists and schedule tasks to ensure that all deadlines and due dates are met.
Create PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets or Box files as needed.
Participate in weekly content team and quarterly production meetings, and work cross-functionally with other members of the team.

Advocacy Support (10%)
At direction of supervisor, help plan and produce policy-related emails, web-based action alerts, petitions and related web content, especially (but not limited to) when there is crossover between advocacy and campaign work.

Other Projects (5%)
Various online or offline projects will come up at times. This role requires flexibility and willingness to shift priorities depending on a project’s importance and timing.

Education & Work Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience required
4 years professional relevant experience in a fast-paced environment required
Demonstrable online content strategy experience
Experience writing copy or crafting a story that motivates an audience to take action
Experience writing for a website and writing broadcast/marketing emails.
Experience keeping others on track to shepherd content projects from ideation to completion
