About the role

We are looking for anAdvisor, Benefitsto manage the governance of pension, healthcare and other benefit-related plans in Africa. This includes strategic support for African business units, in collaboration with Rio Tinto's other functions. This role is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual who is keen to make a difference through best practice and challenging the status quo. This role is within the Benefits Area of Expertise team at Rio Tinto reporting to the Manager, Benefits – Africa:
Provide support to African business units by providing an internal consultation service.
Support management of global benefit contracts.
Review benefit structures and introduce new benefits when suitable.
Investigate suitability of benefits for new country entries.
Ensure administration, governance, compliance and risk management frameworks relevant to all plans remain appropriate at all times.
Forge effective harmonious relationships with key stakeholders.
Support global projects and various company initiatives as required.
Leverages knowledge to understand the local context and provide support for continuous improvement.
Work closely with the procurement and vendor management teams, to manage and ensure the provision of services by vendors (where applicable) meet or exceed agreed performance targets.
Work in consultation and alignment with relevant areas of the business to ensure the alignment of strategy and the consistent delivery to members.
Provide input into and update benefit standards and policies as necessary.
Coordinate the implementation of changes to the design of the plans, considering the applicable legislation.
Maintain an excellent awareness and knowledge of best practices and development in the area of pension, healthcare and other benefits and assist identifying the cause of problems in order to implement practical solutions
Support leaders with the implementation of approved rewards strategy, systems and programs.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Graduate degree in Business, Human Resources or Finance.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience working in a pension OR other benefits advisory role.
Project management, good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Very good communication skills in English
Ability to function well in a dynamic environment with many stakeholders and priorities
French and Portuguese skills, will be considered as assets
