The person in this position will report to the Audit Partners and Head of Audit and will oversee and ensure that the audit runs efficiently and profitably from inception to sign-off by managing all the relevant stakeholders in accordance with the Firm's policies and procedures. This person further supports the Engagement Partner with the clients' commercial management and business development initiatives.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS. Business / Brand Development / Operational Excellence. Clients (70%) Being involved in proposals Assist with new client research, presentation and pitch preparation Attendance of client functions Meetings (30%) Attendance of manager & partner meetings Involvement in Audit Department sub-committees Finance. Budget (20%) Assisting the Partner with negotiating budgets/fees and overruns for clients once fee base has been agreed Timeous and accurate billing of clients, using fee arrangement letters in liaison with the partner Clients (40%) Achieve chargeable hours as agreed upon Timeous completion of client take-on process Quality and ProcessPlanning (40%) Ensure that the audit planning is signed off before commencement of execution of the audit Manage preparation of detailed budgets & staff allocation Submission of task code request & approval of overruns Liaison with client and preparation of the schedule of audit requirements Perform function of principal client contact and take full responsibility for the client relationship management and ensure that all queries are solved timeously Execution (30%) Oversee and ensure that all the project activities comply with the firm's policies and procedures Manage the project timelines and ensure that allocated resources are efficiently used Manage the client and ensure that the project is delivered within the scope agreed on Review the draft financial statements and audit opinion Attend and present at audit committee meetings Attend and facilitate wrap-up meetings Ensure that the files for archiving are done Ensure timeous archiving of files Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training Staff Development (60%) Mentorship and feedback to team members Mentoring of trainees and seniors when required Provide adequate on the job training, counselling & evaluation Assist with recruitment and selection e.g. interviews, VAC work Timeous completion of ANAs once completed by the trainee Regular feedback on trainee performance to the trainee and mentor Provide Management Training Keep abreast of relevant changes on own field of work i.e. law amendments, new practice notes, attend technical meetings, etc.Identify areas of weakness and engage with Operational Job/Audit partners Functionally Head of Audit to upskill and improve through training, GIBs and online self-development Contribute to a better BDO Accountability Ensure that integrity and the highest ethics are our guiding principles Sharing open and honest feedback Innovations is change that unlocks new values New ideas that present opportunities Fostering Collaborative Team work Fostering active communication Proactively looking for business Engaging diverse people Reinforcing accountability Aligning career aspirations with the strategies, goals and objectives of the team or firm Copyright to all content presented on this website is owned by BDO South Africa Services (Pty) Ltd except where other sources are indicated.
