CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
To facilitate learning, teaching and research with under- and post-graduate psychology students
To contribute specifically within the area of Counselling and Clinical Psychology, both to student development and to the Department itself
To process and administer all aspects in the area of Counselling and Clinical Psychology within the Department
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Leadership in the facilitation of academic development
Leadership in facilitating learning, including e-learning
Development, revision and evaluation of learning, teaching and support materials
Provision of teaching, mentoring and clinical supervision
Provision of research supervision at post-graduate and doctoral levels
Developing and managing individual and group research
Carry out departmental and faculty administrative and management duties
Involvement in community engagement
CORE COMPETENCIES
Expert knowledge and grounding in Counselling and Clinical Psychology
Extensive experience in the facilitation of learning and teaching at under- and post-graduate levels
Sound IT knowledge and expertise in technology for blended learning
Clinical and research supervision of Honours, Masters and Doctoral students
Knowledge of program and curriculum development
Experience in preparation of publications for journals and/or the preparation of presentations/papers for national and international conferences
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Doctoral degree in Psychology
Minimum of three years’ registration as a Counselling psychologist or as a Clinical Psychologist with the Professional Board for Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa
Emerging national recognition for teaching scholarship
Track record of experience in research, development and supervision
Track record of publications in accredited national and international journals
Track record of presentations in national and international conferences
Five years’ experience in facilitating learning at under- and post-graduate levels
Sound experience in the broad academic discipline of Psychology
